As this was written in 1991, there are a few outdated issues. 20 years is a long time even in a tradition-oriented game such as baseball. The latest chapter on statistics would certainly have served to be updated post-Billy Beane and Moneyball. Still, each chapter is of interest and I continue to enjoy it.

The more I read about baseball from people who actually know baseball, the more I realize I know very little about the game I love. But, the more I realize this, the more I absorb what I'm reading and the more I learn. What a devilishly wonderful cycle.
