The author's (modern) political and social biases keep shining through like moth-eaten holes in an otherwise-fine garment held up to the light, but there's still a lot of useful accounts being shared.

Ugh, comparing the legitimacy of the Mexican-American War to OIF....dude, stay in your lane! I know that's hard for a leftist to do, though. =/

Credit to the author for his Frederick Douglass quote:

"Abolish slavery tomorrow, and not a sentence or syllable of the Constitution need be altered. It was purposely so framed as to give no claim, no sanction to the claim, of property in man. If in its origin slavery had any relation to the government, it was only as the scaffolding to the magnificent structure, to be removed as soon as the building was completed."

...I'm also not pleased with slave owners being compared with gun owners; yes, both were concerned with restrictive laws falling in with the Slippery Slop principle- but, slavery is evil, and gun ownership is not. Would have made a lot more logical consistency if the author equated slave owners and abortion advocates.

Started off on the wrong foot by equating antebellum Abolition and fugitive slave assistance as "the first Black Lives Matter" movement, but otherwise this is fairly good.
