I've laid this aside temporarily to read William Nack's and Lawrence Scanlan's books on Secretariat. I like the structure Schwartz uses--alternating chapters that deal with Ruffian's racing history and the events of the match race. A very well written book.

Schwartz shifts from present to past in this book about Ruffian's racing history and the match race with Foolish Pleasure. When you know what happened at the match race, the chapters dealing with the past can be poignant and painful.
