Ferron and Helena are getting on my nerves with how violently back and forth their “emotional” attachment/moments are… I understand the characters are relatively young… but it’s giving emotional/psychological abuse and I don’t like it. Trying to hold out and finish the book.

It amazes me how often Ferron acts like an angry kicked dog towards Helena most of the time, with brief glimpses of kindness/interest. Because most of the time he’s a complete @ss to her. 😒

"I've tried everything, Soren. I try to believe, but it's never enough. Even if I did really believe —if my soul's the price of saving you, of saving everyone"—she choked—"that's not a price. That's a bargain.”

Goodness… Helena has been THROUGH it. And of course we have “I’m gonna be mean to you because I’m intrigued by you” Ferron…. Being a jerk. 🤦🏻‍♀️
