Like I acknowledge that the stuff we don't know about polio makes for interesting questions

Those questions are just unrelated to the safety and efficacy of the vaccine

I like how we're conveniently ignoring the impact of Spanish influenza and both world wars because acknowledging those might have had something to do with why western countries had such bad polio outbreaks might harm our narrative about vaccines being bad

This is just the vaccine equivalent of creationists going "how can evolution be real if we don't know how life started"

Like that's irrelevant man. Even if the answer to how life started is "G-d put a cell on earth" evolution would still be real because how life started is only tangentially connected to the theory of evolution

I like how absolutely 0 of these "unanswered questions" about polio (some of which are now answered in the 21st century) have anything to do with the polio vaccine or it's efficacy

Like we don't need to know why polio outbreaks have higher mortality in summer and early fall to know the polio vaccine is safe and effective actually

I guarantee these authors don't have the same feelings about the importance of bodily autonomy that they have with vaccines when it comes to abortion and Trans people

Lmao they're doing that thing where they don't like the real numbers so they just go "but actually it was probably more like these numbers we just made up to support our argument"

I like when you can tell someone has never had actual influenza because they talk about the flu like it's not an entire week and a half of unadulterated misery even when it's mild
