It is absolutely RIDICULOUS, now we have a scene in which a wounded and half uncounscious Marquess is discussing the propriety of the Bennet family with Darcy and Colonel Fitzwilliam (who has never met the family, as far as we know, only briefly Mr Bennet & Elizabeth), and the Cnel is articulately explaining to Darcy that Mrs. Bennet is harmless and just a nervous and concerned mother, worried about an estate entailed away [ eye roll ]

This scene is fake and contrived, intended to parrot every fanfic/JAFF’s talking point about the family or Jane’s abandonment, so that Darcy realizes his “mistake” while lectured by an preachy, all-knowing, hero character, who also happens to be bed-bound and has never met said family !

You are so right. I had read this when I first started back into JAFF after a hiatus of ten years. Reviewing my notes on it, I'm not sure why I liked it so much; perhaps it was the idea of Elizabeth with someone other than Darcy. I remember skimming through the beginning of the second book where ODC eventually get together, and I realized that I had no desire to read it.
