I'm not sure this structure is doing the book any favors, and so far my most memorable takeaway is Sol Stein was a CIA propagandist, a tidbit which I don't remember coming across before.

Very readable. Using lots of quotes, which is a good thing for a biography to do, imo. It does all feel very familiar so far though, like I've read/heard about all of this elsewhere, probably in Baldwin's own words. (I've had a few other Baldwin bios laying around for a while, but this is the first one I'm actually reading, so it would have been his essays or interviews, video clips, etc.)
