The story improved a lot in these last few chapters, and the tension is palpable! I still feel Henry was a bit too naive for a 30y man, gave in too quickly to anything she demanded and his love is insta lust (she really didn’t give him any reason to love her and treats him like shit 99% of the time), but ok! Very cute how he takes care of her & respects her boundaries. Her parents are real MONSTERS! It’s dark…

Aren’t they supposed to be enemies and smart? Isn’t Henry this big bad wolf who has been planning his revenge on her family for 10 years? Why is he suddenly doing everything she wants, including taking her to her parents and letting her ditch him without protest in the first 5min, when he knows she just wants to spill all the secrets he stupidly shared with her to them? His naivety makes no sense 😩

Ugh, I hate it when I like the smart and badass FMC and the author starts having them make stupid decisions and be a bitch!! Why?? Harlow was going so well and now I want to strangle her! Henry is softening to her more and more, and she is just 100% heartless and reckless. Please don’t make it be another Rain of Shadows and Endings, I just can’t deal with these types of spoiled & childish FMCs.

I’m invested in the story, I like Harlow (she’s 30+ and a poisoner/assassin!!) and her chemistry with Henry, but the writing does over explain things a bit and repeats information the reader already knows over and over… it is annoying! Other than that I’m eating this up and happy to be reading a standalone for a change!

Current e-book, which I picked up because of Booktok 😂 It’s right up my alley though, and I’m already liking the FMC!
