Note: I’m not powering through Wuthering Heights because I think it’s so valuable or enjoyable (shocker.)
Sometimes reading is strategy. Sticking with a read just long enough to make returning to your fav genre or series feel serendipitous & perfectly aligned; a delayed transition to calmer waters, rather than several port stops across a choppy sea. the Captain typically knows best when it's safe to return home :)

Morn from the moors! I think this is a short list that might ease the pressure for someone powering through this book. Here are a few things, assuming my understanding is correct, I don’t focus on & tend to allow lots of grace:
- unexpected time period shifts
- financial status considerations and related timeline dialogue (due to trade market economy)
- character behavior outside of the narrator’s purview

Still here, still reading. Haven’t changed my mind. Doing a clean sweep update makes a person look like they fear exploration, so onward we march, but I may anonymize character profiles. Don’t know. As previously stated, processing a lot of this book is deeply personal given certain content & atp, I’m really only interested in being perceived doing so by my person, outside of work stuff. I’m sure others can relate!

oh ya know just another night of not really knowing what's going on and trying not to crash the hell out! I'm millimeters away from deactivating every single social and music profile I have for the time being, & my people can just get ahold of me directly. I don't have a human here to talk anything through with. So I'm just gonna go for a drive and probably try to avoid thinking about it and fail. x

Does anyone have any horse tranquilizer I can borrow asking for a friend lol jk kinda
Good news on this book! I think Cathy’s about to die tg—I acc think if Cathy is a self insert for Emily Bronte and I had been alive then, we would have fought. Now we just get Heathcliff being insufferable smh. Sorry I’m not seeing a drop of romance so far idgi lol
I'm finally on the second volume of this (of 3) + NEED COFFEE

I got through more of this before work today, hateee Catherine. Heathcliff and her husband got into a physical fight and then she like, fainted and made herself bleed and is now having some sort of fit? but not in like a concerning way. in a bitchy, manipulative, self-induced way. She's gross, way worse than Heathcliff so far imo! I need a break from this depression porn so switching to Babel maybe? :) + coffee?

I think I'm feeling a little scared & confused tonight. & I can’t sit still but I can’t focus on stuff to keep me busy either lol I decided to take this book and go for a drive, go read parked somewhere for a little bit or something. It’s hard not to worry that you’re crazy or talking to yourself (maybe just cuz that's what we tell women from birth) on the internet, even when people seem engaged.

Multiple transitions between reads can sometimes make getting through a chapter particularly difficult as well, esp for someone like me. So I’m choosing to work through this, page by stupid page, as a deep commitment and path of least resistance to ending up back in bed with my fav book ASAP! & with a mind and body ready to explore other, far less depressing and more exciting, ideas. While at times challenging, reading will always be a worthy investment. I will choose it every time. I hope that’s helpful to anyone who might have similar concerns 💕
