actually i started this book a few days ago trying to get over the vermin-induced reading slump that i forsaw coming (because how on earth do you top that). so far i am liking the world-building!! definitely feels alot more real than fake haha very relevant in our modern day.

just popping in to say that the fact that 1984 is set in london is so funny to me like. they talk about st pancras station and i lived next to it for abit LOL its so jnteresting. its also so curious to me that in both 1984 and fahrenheit 451 they talk about burning of books as a method of keeping the population under their thumb.

i know everyone says this about this book but the concept of newspeak is really really interesting!! when you consider how language imperialism and standardisation impacts and trickles down into the ways in which we think/act it seems like such an effective propaganda tool towards controlling the thoughts of a people
