*Spoilers in comments* while this overall was not a very impressive read, it did have decent writing and a robust plot twist. I definitely wasn’t impressed, and did roll my eyes a couple of times, but the storyline was unique. The dozen characters didn’t make it a little bit difficult to follow, but overall the story progressed quite nicely. May or may not recommend.

Lena The story covers Eva Marie, who is a former FBI officer who moved her hometown in Florida after her husband left her for his mistress. She has three kids, two girls and one boy. Essentially, after coming back, she gets thrown into helping to investigate a series of crimes where young children of divorced parents are being abducted, and some of them, unfortunately mutilated and dismembered. The story parallels back-and-forth between the ongoing crimes, as well as the essentially upbringing of the man who’s committing these crimes. Basically after finding a number of victims, some of whom are alive and some of whom are not, they end up discovering. Or rather Ava ends up discovering the fact that it’s her stepfather who was committing these crimes. Essentially when growing up his father and mother separated, and his father pitted him and his sister against his mother. He claimed that she was always late for her appointments with the children that she was abusing drugs. One day she followed her son and his sister home and ended up picking them up and taking them home. The dad calls the police at which point the police go over and end up, shooting the young daughter by accident. The mom ends up, going to jail and write her son a series of letters describing what happened. It was actually the Father who was giving her the wrong dates to see her children and was alleging things against her that weren’t true. This caused resentment in Eva stepdad and that’s why he ended up committing all these crimes as a way to tell his story. At the end of the story, Eva’s former boyfriend from high school and current police officer man ends up, shooting her stepfather in the head. Eva and her mom end up living together with her kids.

Lena Overall, not a terrible book and I’m very pleased with how short it was
