She has made a fool of me before the eyes of the world, yet if the truth be known, I cannot imagine life without her. I could never live knowing that another man might somehow calm the storms of her fiery spirit.

I would rather have her dead than alive, knowing that she may someday take another man to her bed.

Whether she tells the truth or not, she has not produced the heir needed to secure the dynasty.

The last few days have been ever so difficult. I have had to logic the illogical and produce an annulment for the King from Queen Anne. Yet my hand signed the annulment and the announcement that Anne should die due to adultery. How could one who has never been married, never been a legal wife, then suffer death due to adultery? It is the King’s will, so it must be done.

Being inside Jane's head for those chapters...gah! *shudders*

History will remember only Henry and me, the children we will have, and the good Princess Mary. Heaven only knows what will become of the child Elizabeth. If she didn’t look so much like Henry, I believe he would have her raised in a convent. As it appears, she will make a lovely pawn in his plans for the dynasty.

Some of these "letters for the Royal Record" are interesting but some have my eyes glazing over.

Important to the story-line perhaps but slowing the story down for me

She whispered, “It will come unexpected. It will come from behind you. It will hit you so quickly, you will never see it coming. You will not even know that you have been struck from behind.”

“What does it mean?” I ask.

“I do not know, Queen Anne, but you are to be told these words,” she said.
With that, I tried to pay her, but she would take nothing. Shuddering, I now wondered if she had foreseen today.
