Very boring chapter about the mountain of Bashan but I guess a deep dive into this stuff will result in some boring chapters for the sake of being thorough.

Finally getting back to this. Loved chapter 32, all about Jesus’s first actions post baptism and all the symbolism in his words to Peter at Caesarea Philippi. Good stuff.

Part 6: Chapter 29
Not sure how to feel about this. Heiser is adamant that we shouldn’t “read the New Testament back into the Old”. I think I can get behind that, but sometimes I think he goes too far with that idea. He’s adamant about reading the OT “the way an Israelite would” i.e.; as people who don’t have the NT, but it doesn’t make sense to ignore the light the NT sheds on the old.

Finally got back to this one. Very, very interesting chapters about the giants in the Old Testament. Goliath is far from the only one. It was a bit hard to follow with all the different names and vocab terms but I decided to read quickly and try to get the overall message and there’s many good takeaways.

Some chapters are eye opening and fascinating, others feel insignificant and boring. Not exactly loving this as a book but I see how it could make for a great Bible study.
