what in the hell is kerewin about to learn about joe?

I can't get over how these mini lessons are throughout the book. No matter how hard you try to name something it still just is what it is. So cool

I'm so curious as to who beat the crap out of Simon? Like could it have been Joe? But it also doesn't seem like its in his character...

I love the writing of certain phrases within this book

"no sound but winds and trees and the omnipresent sea."

I can't tell if the boy is being abused in some manner or if he just yearns for a motherly figure??? or perhaps its something else entirely...

does she have the same/similar scar as simon?
