so far this story has been much darker than i expected. i guess this would probably be considered YA fantasy and i don't know if its actually that much darker than its genre counterparts but i don't really read YA or fantasy often so i was taken pretty off guard. kyoshi has been suffering life altering trauma after trauma so far, I feel like I got so little time with her and her friends before everything blew up. :(
