Fernanda reminds me a lot of Ursula in the sense that she looks after her family and is very concerned about them. I wonder if the extremely restrictive Fernanda will finally rid the family of it's laziness and restore it's prominence as the honorable founders of Macando.

I predict that this flood is finally going to fix the bad habits of Auleranio Segundo and Meme. I think they will finally realize that their frivolous habits are killing them, and the former prominence of the family will be restored.

In this passage, the government cracks down on all the strikers and kills them, only leaving Arcadio Segundo behind. They deny it, saying they sent them back to their real families, and in saying that, they meant that they killed them and sent them to either heaven or hell.
