Definitely Dickens' silliest novel. But it's the one that made him famous. It's his acrobatic use of the English language that really catches me as a reader.

Witty and insightful storytelling with some mock horror thrown in for fun. Dickens is a brilliant writer with an ear for authentic conversations.

Funny and extremely diverse, the story has stories within that have nothing to do with the main story. I never know what I will get when I sit down in the evenings to read.

Dickens understands satire, and he makes good use of it as a social commentary.

Reading his biography while reading his books changes the way I understand his work. At times, I am amazed at his literary genius, while other times I am surprised that he can be so funny when his life had such dark moments. Mostly, I see the contradictions of a person still processing his human journey.

This is a very funny book - a fun escape from the "real world" with lots of great moments.

I'm just at the beginning, but I love the character descriptions and authentic dialogue already.
