Omg, this is exactly like when Germans try to copy American action movies. The will is there, the ability is not.
For the sake of my reading challenges, I will solider on.... (so no, not DNFing, Rod!)

I thought the cover was a photo montage. But no, it says in the novel that the skyscraper called "The Shard" looms directly in your line of sight on Brixton Hill Road.

The Shard is the really tall one with the one straight side. ( And it's 3 miles away.)

1st book for a new 10-book reading challenge!! A German thriller cleverly disguised as a British thriller. Don't be fooled! (I was 🧐)

It's starting to pick up, but still limping...

American culture is heavily influential in Germany. Esp in media, like movies. That's the thing they look up to.

Thing is, Germans are phenomenal actors, really just top notch...but their script writers and directors are sub-par (and if they aren't, they work in Hollywood like Wolfgang Peterson). So what you get is a German try at Hollywood style action films, translated to Germany/Europe with great acting, but crap everything else.

They want to be Hollywood SO MUCH because they love it, but they just don't have the ability to do a decent copy of certain genres the US excels at. (In comparison, German historical dramas are often extremely good...mainly due to the acting and detail work, which Germans are brillant at)

Valerie Book Valkyrie Thanks so much B!
