I'm going to do it! It's taken a year, but I'm almost to the end!

Hmmm, there's a good story here, but Wooding's need to have all his characters have some sort of private drama going on means that hardly anyone seems interested in the big picture and not only do the characters not seem to have grown since the first book, but they all seem to have come down with a terrible case of soap-opera-itis. which I find frustrating. But hey, just 27% to go (and I read 12% today)!

Honestly, I probably should've started over from the beginning, since I read most of this ~2ish years ago, but even with that I feel like I'm making good progress (and starting to get into the story)

I don't know why, but I felt the urge to actually make some progress here, maybe I'll actually finish it, it's only been 2ish years since I started...

PROGRESS! HAHA! Just because I hadn't touched it in... 4 months, doesn't mean I'd given up on it. I was a bit burned out on big epic fantasy novels at the time after pushing to the end of Robert Jordan's portion of the Wheel of Time, but after reading a ton of mil sci-fi and mystery and thrillers (and yes, a fantasy here and there) through the spring and summer, I'm ready to give this another go. HUZZAH!

I think it's worth mentioning why I haven't made progress on this recently. Partly, I got distracted. Partly, I'm a bit annoyed with some of the characters being stupid, mind-frelled, and inconsiderate. Partly, I feel like the story is spinning its wheels a bit. Mostly, though, I'm just a bit burned out on epic fantasy at the moment and need some time with my other favorite genres to get reenergized in my reading.
