I’m so glad the parents are finally getting along and the father’s eyes are open to the empires faults. It’s wrapping up really nicely.

Oh wow. What a chapter. The fight between the two parents, the way they came together in the end, the father’s willingness to finally open up… it’s beautiful, really.

This book really is so impressive. It covers so many topics, Im impressed with how the author is portraying everything. But somehow I’m following along and greatly impacted by the last chapter and the way it remarks on how to mourn the dead, how to keep living after loss, how to continue on when your government turns their back on you. I can’t believe mamoru is dead… I feel awful for misaki. This last chapter was so insightful and has such great perspective on motherhood, life, death, sacrifice… I’m in awe, honestly.

theyre both dead!? obv im only halfway through the book so im a little confused... the fight scenes are incredible though. theres an impressive amount of detail and imagery. im really enjoying this book so far

Woah. This book transcended into a social-political discussion further than just warrior politics. What it means to be a mother- what it means to protect your family in spite of fear and disarray. And now the enemy is at their doorstep. I’m gobsmacked.

so the mom is a total badass just like i thought. i really hope nothing bad happens to her. also i like this city boy for mamoru. i think it's good hes opening his eyes a bit. im really enjoying this book

So far so good!! It’s a little confusing, jumping straight into such a vast story with so many characters, but I really like how it’s written so far. It’s so rich with detail and the characters are so palpable. I can tell I’m gonna love this book
