Ugh, we are meeting literally every person that works for this company and being given highly detailed descriptions of them and how attractive they all are and who their likely counterpart will be in future books.
This is THE MOST annoying thing that books do lately, they spend so much time setting up the rest of the series when they should be focussing on building suspense. .

The one I’m reading now (& will dnf tonight) also has irksomely predictable villains. Gee, do you think it’s the guy who’s openly menacing the heroine who’s also menacing the heroine on the sly? 😱 And what about the mystery figure betraying their super-secret Underground Railroad routes? Could it be the guy whose family was murdered in a slave uprising & yet inexplicably decided to volunteer to work on the Railroad? Who could it beeeee leaking this information?! 😱

They might as well twirl their moustaches sometimes, it’s that obvious. This one we don’t know the villians, they are wearing clown masks (heavy eyeroll) but she mention briefly that her fiancé disagreed with how her mother ran their spy for hire business and then he’s dead with no body found 🤔. So we have an unknown villain who eerily knows a lot of info about their company and a dead fiance who they never recovered the body of. Not obvious at all.
Gosh, I’m stumped by who THAT could be! Hmmm. 🧐 Btw, last night I skipped to the finale. The villains were exactly as I’d guessed. 🙄 Plus the main villain (aka the menacing guy) stands around doing a long explanation while pointing his pistol at the heroine. Seriously? It was something out of Scooby Doo. At one point he says something like “I’d have gotten away with everything if not for your meddling.” *fail horn*
