Ugh, we are meeting literally every person that works for this company and being given highly detailed descriptions of them and how attractive they all are and who their likely counterpart will be in future books.
This is THE MOST annoying thing that books do lately, they spend so much time setting up the rest of the series when they should be focussing on building suspense. .

I continue to object to thongs and anyone thinking they are the epitome of sexy underwear.
My war on thongs is not over!

It’s weird that you can enjoy a book but also roll your eyes at its predictability. Maybe that’s just me.

I already guessed the ending. We will see if I’m right but it’s too predictable and rote to not have been her dead fiance all along. It’s always the dead fiance.

This is decent. I like that she’s Canadian and this fits with my boycott loving heart. 🇨🇦

Someone watched National Treasure on repeat and thinks they can write a heist story.

So…it’s an Ocean’s 11 series with plots either based on National Treasure, The Italian Job, or The Score with the soldier-romance-style Every Guy In This Platoon Is Hot mindset. . Wow. That’s a lot of really unoriginal stuff.

Hahaha ya. It’s not very original but it is entertaining me at the same time as being mildly worthy of my (our) disdain. Plus I will count it as research for our cross border suspense/cop romance.
Research is important. *solemn nod* I wonder if we can somehow cross our suspense/cop series with our magnum opus curling series? 🫢(But all romance addicts have read books like that. You know it’s an unoriginal cheesefest but you still enjoy it, lol.)
I think it’s mandatory nowadays to cross over all your series’ together into one big series soup. Or casserole. Some kind of mixed up food.
The local pizza place has a pizza called The Dumpster. It uses every single topping in the place, including the maple syrup drizzle. 😂 Obv this is what modern romance has patterned itself after.
Oh bummer! You're so right- I feel like so many books are guilty of setting up the series from book one these days. Makes it less fun imo since we're not organically meeting the full cast

Some authors do this organically, others make it seem so forced.
