tell me why i am lying awake eyes wide with terror because i didn't see this moment coming - in my human stupidity and inflexibility of mind i simply, did not. now i can't sleep, can't read, can't move on because i know simply that i do not want this book to end and that if there is no end to this tragedy then i would prefer simply to pretend another end.

gosh i rly hoped i read more reviews from the later books before starting the hades & persephone series because it's starting to seem like complete disrespect to my favourite greek god 🥲

listen, there's insufferable villainous plot device, and then there's simply plain insufferable persephone who WANDERS into hades' realm, TUMBLES into a bet with him, PREJUDICED in her self-righteousness, and JUDGEMENTAL with her assessment of how hades carries out his hellish dealings. the only reason i'm still reading is for her redemption arc (i hope) and st. clair KNEW what she was doing crafting hades 🥲

when i think too long and/or hard about it this books gives me chills 👀

2 or 3 pages in and i'm tearing; i think roshani chokshi really made me reconsider the skill it takes to write a story with every chapter from a different character's POV. i used to think it was a slipshod method of fleshing a plot out, a shortcut writers take so to speak, but with her writing it endears me to every character, such that watching them suffer pains me - i care for every single one of them.

LOL remember how i said it was heartwarming i guess i spelt it wrong and i actually meant heartbreaking i am actually sobbing as i write this this is absolutely gut wrenching in a way i have never experienced before PLEASE

oh, okay, this is turning out a lot better than i expected in the heartache department this is very heartwarming indeed 💓

how many times can an author make the "fake" joke without it getting old? apparently, if you're alexis hall, it never gets old

so like, alexis hall really said "i will write the most perfect boyfriend ever" and proceeded to do just that

this is my second time reading this book and i've found the most apt analogy for second time readers. this is imminent heartbreak. the only comfort you get from reading is that for as long as you read, your heart is breaking, but you know that it is not yet completely destroyed. i am drawing out the end for myself, and taking breaks unashamedly (ಥ﹏ಥ)

to re-read a favourite book is like falling into comfort - sorely needed at such a time
