I would recommend this if you're feeling like reading short stories that are all very brazen and upfront while also being playful with the themes. Mansfield doesn't shy away from talking about 'taboo' topics but she isn't very blatant about it either, it's wrapped in humour and gorgeous imagery. The characters are all so stunning, even the negative ones will charm you. Also, personally, I really like the writing.

Okay, I checked and I'm 10 percent done. And I have tears in my eyes, I absolutely love the characterization of the friend group in the first story. They're all so distinct and wonderful and eccentric. And I kind of want to read the book along with the narrator but she's doing such a good job, so I'm scared I won't enjoy the book as much now. THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED. BLISS!!!

I don't like Circe enough to ship him with Daedalus...
Maybe I'm just mean but she's so...she keeps being so desperate. And I know he's getting better, but I feel like Daedalus was so strong willed. He fought for freedom, did things that he knew wouldn't be accepted, and had so much talent. Circe feels so bland compared to him... Maybe I just don't like her because I've been seeing her weak side for too long.

I'm reading this in English actually but can't find the English version on Goodreads so I'm using this one.

It's really good but pretty messed up. At least it acknowledges that it's messed up, it doesn't try to make you believe this is all normal and okay. There's constant guilt and moments of hesitation, but in the end the need for revenge and chaos wins.

I kind of really want to write a review but I don't think I'll be able to do it justice because... I didn't enjoy this. But that's not to say this couldn't be someone else's cup of tea. Maybe I just can't feel anything when it comes to books about war, IDK.

Almost finished the audiobook on a 3hr drive yesterday (Got a raging headache because I get car sick) This is such a sad and melancholic book. Even the wholesome parts are written just you get to care for the characters, so the authors can tear your heart out later.
