So Genya's described as extremely beautiful and flawless, although we were told that she was covered in scars that she seemed proud of by CK. Is it development, or just plain bored of covering them up?

Even though I KNOW Fjerdans are horrible racist bastards and basically nazis, I cant stop myself from remembering Matthias which then makes me second guess their terribleness... Am I a bad person?

I would like to say that I’m not surprised at the fact of her being Grisha, and that my knowing kind of ruined it, but I can’t deny the suspense of finding out what happens next

Following my absolute horrible (and useless) talent of my predicting ships before getting acquainted with characters’ last names, I would say I’m expecting either Alina and Mal, or Alina and Alexei (Or both). Btw, where have I heard that name before?? Alexei, Alexei, it sounds so familiar..

Idk if this is another one of my useless predictions or a very badly recalled memory, but is The Darkling the King of Ravka (or was it that pirate guy?)? Cause I definitely remember both being mentioned in SoC, although I don’t remember in which context.

Also, in SoC it was said hat Grisha get sick if they don’t use their powers often, so is that why Alina is described as sickly and not getting as much sleep?

So I’m quite enjoying it and I’ve got to say, I really like the BEFORE chapter for some reason.

“I also want you to be happy, and I’m scared I could never be the person who could give you that.”
My precious G. God, I just want to cradle him and hiss at anyone coming within a quarter mile radius.

I like this. I like this very much, please don’t ruin it. The … I don’t know what to call it, Intimacy? But Lord help the hand clutching my heart cause if I sit here and read about him kissing her so softly like this, I might just about break.

Side note: Am I the only one surprised she didn’t mention G to Shadi all this time or was it just written out or...?

This here right now could go in two very different directions, and I am not the least bit interested to find out (pre-basement scene). Good God I need help.

Aaaand it turns out I was wrong (G deserves the world). I did not expect this side of him to be honest. I don’t know how to explain it. I want to say ‘who would have thought he had layers?’ and although I did, I just didn’t expect to find out Augustus had a whole meteorite-sized crevasse of them.

"A smile and a flutter weren’t enough for me. I was done with secrets and lies, no matter how pretty." A small smile again. Except this time, it’s for the admiration I have for her self-worth. Reminds me a lot of Inej’s from Six of Crows’ “I will have you without armor, or I will not have you at all.” This is what makes me truly proud of my favourite characters. Know your worth. Don’t settle.

She’s his aunt? His wife left him on his birthday? He’S MARRIED?! Girl, please. Honestly this whole chapter feels made up it’s so absurd (excuse the irony).

The romance's different in this book. At least what I’ve seen so far. It’s not the fangirl-squealing type, but more like a shy smile inducing one. Kinda cautious, like a small spark slowly into a flame; blue, not red. A blue ember. It’s warming in a way I don’t remember feeling. I’m hopeful, not really trusting the shaky infrastructure from holding, whereas I’m pretty confident. It’s precious, unrealistic in a way.
