I am truly enjoying this follow up book. The story is exciting and very entertaining. The character development is exceptional and flows seamlessly throughout the entire storyline in this book, and in the first novel. Kudos to the author for bringing us another winner!

Book is definitely picking up. But, no comparison to it's predecessor, To Kill A Mockingbird.

There is a world of difference between this book and "To Kill A Mockingbird". The former is a dry, rather uninteresting read, while the later is an engrossing yarn, a tale of life in the south. Maybe my thoughts will change, but it does not even seem to have the same writing style.

Excellent historical timeline, coupled with literary license of the people and the times. Brilliantly written and absolutely engrossing.

I am so pleased that someone recommended this author to me. I have just nearly begun reading, but I am fully consumed by the characters, the plot and the history.

I am absolutely glued to this book. I agree that five stars is not enough. Intriguing, historical and psychological all rolled into one outstanding book.

The storyline is more evolved and natural flowing than book one. I just need to get past Jane, the annoying, know-it-all daughter. Her character definitely taints the reading pleasure of the content. Hopefully she will either fade into obscurity, or blossom into a more appealing character.

I started this series on a valued recommendation, but so far I have not been drawn into the story as it is presented by the writer. I find the writing style in this book disjointed. There are no twists and turns to grasp one's interest. I have committed myself to read the first 4 books in this series, and hope that in the ensuing novels, there is greater character and storyline development.
