Boys like Ureshino really are the worst, they always fucking ruin everything.

Man, reading this reminds me of my childhood. I was so lonely back then (and now too but I can be lonely in my own apartment so that's a win)

Ridiculously repetitive: client come in, said they heard the place from the editor/read it in Gourmet Monthly, eat the set menu, went for consultation, Koishi saying that there's not a lot to go with the client's info, Nagare complaining about the lack of useful clues, Koishi saying I'm sure you can do it, he DID do it, Koishi chiding Drowsy for slipping into the diner, etc. Rinse and repeat.

A lot of setup before the sasquatches appear, but it's inevitable to lay the groundwork for the eventual siege. Credit where it's due tho, Brooks's writing is engaging enough that 40% of the book fly by just like that. Hopefully the story starts to pick up now. That "big foot" pun is terrible tho.

Mostar is so great. I know she's gonna die in the end but I hope she's one of the last to die cos she makes the book worth reading. The characters are caricature-ish but hopefully we'll see more depths once the plot moves along.

The trick to feel "full" when reading poetry books is to read the poems out loud. You can tell a book of poetry is good when the words flows gracefully out of your graceless mouth. Mary Oliver's poems are graceful and lovely. Will take my time with this.

Characters set up done, so far I like the old lady. I have to say I like the nonchalant inclusion of same sex couples, it's very refreshing and normalizing.

I wonder if Omar will be redeemed because he's such a presumptuous asshole.
