I'm so disgusted with Alera right now. She's so dumb, gullible, and wishy-washy! Until now she's actually been smarter than almost everyone else around her (not saying much) and now she's throwing that advantage away.

It's finally clear why at least one of the new characters showed up. Just had to be a little patient! Hoping it picks up more now that the Count is in Paris and is starting to meet some critical people.

New POV and a long interlude in Rome for a carnival with only glimpses of the Count. I'm getting impatient to find out what this has to do with anything.
