Only 2 chapters in and already, this is one of the best memoirs I’ve had the privilege to read.

My mother bought me this book years ago and it sat in a shelf unread.
I’m now well through it finally and am thoroughly enjoying it. My regret is in the waiting. I truly wish that I had read this book while my Mom was still alive. I missed the opportunity to discuss and thank her properly and that saddens me.

With strong characters and a compelling storyline, this is one of those books that I’m trying to read as slowly as possible. I just know that I’ll reach the end and be wishing for the tale to continue.

Really enjoying this book. During a time of growing discord like we seem to be in now, learning from the perspectives of others is probably our smartest strategy.

First couple of chapters in, I'm enjoying it. The author's take on the former US President is particularly entertaining.

"We only moved forward and we always moved fast, and by the time the law and everyone else came around we were already miles down the road, flying across the freeway in a bright-orange, piece-of-shit Volkswagen with the windows down and Jimmy Swaggart praising Jesus at the top of his lungs."

Absolutely enjoying this read!
