Rereading this book to remember why I liked it so much & see if I still do, the 2nd time around.

"...making a decision was only the beginning of things."

"As Mamaw used to say, you can take the boy out of Kentucky, but you can't take Kentucky out of the boy." True!

I love the imagery and the way the author captures the dark times of the Nazi occupation of Europe. "The trees stand like gibbets by the roadside." "The world is cold."

I just realized that the title of the book is the first line in Samuel Beckett's play "Waiting for Godot". Good, so far!

"Americans call them hillbillies, rednecks, or white trash. I call them neighbors, friends, and family." Having lived in KY and East TN, I have known many wonderful people who fit into this category! I think this will be a great read for me, especially during this Presidential election when issues of race, class, and social issues are on people's minds.

Had to return it to the library before finishing it. By the time it is available again, I will have to start over!

My first Finnish book! Interesting/magical/unusual story.

Not sure about this one.

Interesting but it's going to take a while to get through it!
