Essentially, the Nazi regime wasn't good for anyone. East and West Germany both suffered in the aftermath, and obviously there were over a million (exact # not known) people killed in the process. A key take away is anytime a man in power starts talking about war or violence to accomplish literally anything, run in the opposite direction...

So now, it's explained that the Catholic and Protestant churches aligned with the Nazi party and even had informants within the churches to inform party members of (unclear) information.

So then people joined the Nazi party knowing that they were doing things that were wrong or borderline hateful, but they continued to go along with it because otherwise those who spoke out would be ostracized, have their career opportunities removed, or they'd be fired.

Well, according to this author, Germans are traditionally sore losers, culturally. This might be a bit of an overgeneralization, but I'll listen on.

Another phase of this movement is mentioned - an emphasis on non-intellectual virtues. Essentially, educated people were seen as a threat.

Honestly this is closer to reading a textbook than reading a story. I thought this book was going to be a bit closer to telling a story and being informative through the process. So far it feels like I'm straight up reading a textbook.

It's like a movie that's so bad you can't look away. No woman that I know would enjoy this book, regardless of where they're from.

Did I really just listen to 49 minutes of these two guys talking about how it feels to smoke weed? This book isn't starting strong.
