Turgenev wrote this in 1862 but he might as well be writing it directly onto my soul. The golden age of Russian literature really came at the perfect time in history to produce literature that continues to speak to us today, as if it were written moments ago.

It is horrific that dozens of people were imprisoned and served collectively hundreds of years in prison for supposed crimes committed with no physical evidence as the result of the ‘Satanic Panic.’ How has that event not become a historical touchstone as large as the Salem Witch trials which look small in comparison?

I received this book as an ARC but unfortunately didn’t have time to read it prior to the publication date.

This completely changes everything I had been lead to know about MLK in elementary and high school. What I had learned then was only a caricature of the man.
