Sean is on page 12 of 168 of The Philosophy of Jesus
So my big obsession right now is "What did Jesus actually *say*?" I'm not trying to deny the riches of Christian theology, but to take Jesus seriously, "on his own," so to speak.

Sean is 40% done with The Consolation of Philosophy
His single main bit of advice from Philosophy is to let go of hope and of fear. I have had to do some thinking about which meaning of "hope" he is refering to, since Hope is a virtue, and it is hard to imagine an intelligent, educated, theologically minded Christian author advising against it.

Sean is on page 617 of 1312 of Christian Community Bible: Translated, Presented and Commented for the Christian Communities of the Philippines and the Third World; And for Those Who Seek God : Complete Text
I re-read the Bible periodically (mostly so I don't embarrass myself when some Protestant asks me a question and they think I won't know the answer because I'm Celtic Catholic). I love the Christian Community Bible, and I even read the commentary, which I don't do with most Bibles. As of now, I am in Isaiah--though the Old Testament books are in an odd order in this translation.

I read it through periodically. I am reading the Christian Community translation, which I love (especially the commentary, the only footnote Bible commentary I enjoy). I am in Isaiah now.

I've not read it yet, which is a bit embarrassing. So now I shall.

Sean is reading Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything
I'm reading this book because I am interested in the inter-connectedness of all things (whether or not traceable to a beach in the Bahamas). So far, so good.

I've heard him on the radio (NPR) and he is fascinating. I'm interested in everything, and this book seems to be about everything. How the owrld works.
