I consciously avoided this guys books, midwest family sagas, no thanks. What a fool i was.

As in Requiem, Selby Jr. lets the mc dangle on the hook for a while, even grants him the illusion now and then that there’s still hope. But the reader knows better, things are going to get real dark, real soon.

Might as well finish it but the enthusiasm has just about dried up.

Also another novel written in the voice of a pseudo intellectual narcissistic controlling male. She nailed this shit better than anybody I’ve ever read. She isn’t cruel. She just gives them enough rope.

Another iris murdoch book i cant wait to open again.
