Found really spooky "Special needs child", and I liked the one about the mathematician.

Just beginning. I liked the one about the ichthyologist, but the one about the rats was a little bit obvious.

I didn't think the author could keep the geeky talk increasing in this book... but I was wrong!
I think it does nothing for the plot, and it's starting to get annoying... in retrospective I'm starting to view the 'Introduction' as a fair warning!
Is it just me or this is a fantasy story trying very hard to be a hard science fiction one?

... And then come Chapter Eighteen... WTF?

Todo iba tan bien... hasta que se le ocurrió lo de la niña. ¿Qué intenta decir? ¿Que en el fondo todos somos víctimas? No creo que vaya por ahí.

Also I don't know what to make about lines like "They’re my officers, dammit, not my harem, Miles’s thought snarled silently. But no Barrayaran officer of Destang’s age would see it that way. Some attitudes couldn’t be changed; they just had to be outlived."

After years and years I finally picked this up.
I didn't remember a thing, so I had to start from the beginning.
I think I stopped reading because the story is quite stressing, at least to me.

Yeah, it's geekier than I thought. And the Introduction almost makes me retreat and read some other book. That's not a good way to present a book! With that kind of friends... Although if you can endure the Introduction, then the book will be easy, charming and witty in comparison X-D

... Aún así podría saltarse las descripciones machistas. Voy a acabar esta cosa sólo por el dichoso reto de r/Libros, me cae.

Este libro me está costando bastante más de lo que yo esperaba. Las partes en las que se descubre la historia de Julián Carax son lo único que me mantiene leyendo, porque el protagonista adolescente y su amigo el no-misógino, junto con la forma en que el autor pinta a las mujeres bajo el pretexto de que "así eran los tiempos"...

Pues los amores irresolutos del protagonista ya no me están haciendo tanta gracia.
