something that i guessed would happen happened much before i thought it'd happen and now i'm hoping for the worst - this is so good

it's not that visually shocking if you're accustomed to this level of gore (not that much of it, actually, just the necessary for the premise) but the people's actions and reactions, how they evolve and devolve, is what make this a raw, humbling and, above all, human experience

i have to admit that maas' writing has stopped being plain bad and has embraced mediocrity, yet the redundancies, info dumps and abundant repetition make the reading experience a difficult one

the many tangents make me feel that she doesn't respect her readers enough to consider them neither patient to wait for the adequate moment to know relevant information nor capable enough to complete an image in their own

the lack of subtlety and the typical maas redundancy (yes, i get it, she's half fae and she's not happy about what that means, okay okay, chill girl) is making this surprisingly competent narration more annoying than it needs to be.

it's SO GOOD, unexpectedly so.

this books reads more like light sci fi than urban fantasy and thats okay if thats what you want but i was aiming for something else? the concepts are fun anyway so ill finish this one, dont know if id continue the series
