An eye-opening read for anyone who only knows the history of America as taught in school. Jared Dimond's book should have been Germs, and a few Guns and Steel. Disease so ravaged the existing populations and civilizations that the Europeans were able to easily colonize the land. Previous discoverers did not have it so easy as there were a lot of people to defend their land.

The first World War is over and we are now into the Spanish Flu. I'm almost finished and it is far more interesting than the TV show. The Earl has also just discovered King Tut's tomb. They spent a lot of time and money in Egypt.

If I get more time (ha) I want to read some Lorrie Moore. Maybe short stories will be easier.
