I expected better from Alan Dean Foster. This reads like it was intended for a juvenile audience.

Minister Cuna and the other aliens are more or less MacGuffins in this story, but overall I enjoyed this book!

Good romance progress, but annoying incorrect use of the word "comprise".

I'm pretty sure the romance bits are all JP's work, considering Sanderson hates romance so much.

Ah, another arrogant, pigheaded individual in a high-ranking position, along the same lines as Admiral Ironsides from the first book, ruining diplomatic relations with an otherwise friendly alien.

A cheesy, feel-good ending that I couldn't help smiling at.

I've got news for you, Joan -- plants are alive.

Cartoon science fiction, and doesn't pretend to be otherwise.

The writing is disappointing, but this alternate universe is still interesting.

So far, Leia has the very annoying habit of using Luke's name in every reply to him. "Bad enough, Luke." "I don't think so, Luke." "And the Circarpous worlds are vital to the Rebellion, Luke." "Don't make me make it an order, Luke." "It doesn't matter, Luke." "Lost lateral controls completely now, Luke!" "Luke, you're worrying too much." That's not all of them.

A near-retiring investigative journalist tries to solve a riddle left by a serial kidnapper to find the victim, while complaining about how modern technology has changed newspapers all along the way.

So far no good.

Far too abstract.

Okay, I don't know what the HELL is going on in this book.

This book jumps around a lot in the timeline, but so far the flashbacks have not yet explained why everyone fears and hates the main character.

This is the climax, Paul thought.
