Only a few chapters in, but I genuinely believe every Christian ought to read this. Mattson is unapologetically biblical.

Just finished the first essay of the two in the book. In “The Idea of Christian Society” Eliot is concerned with the why and the necessity of a Christian Society and only briefly of the question of how to achieve it (spoiler: he says it’s Christian education).

Ultimately, for Eliot, this is the aim: “the Christian can be satisfied with nothing less than a Christian organization of society.”
