When Shevek is explaining the philosophy of his physics research and discussing the Schrödinger’s cat effect of time itself having both causality and all encompassing unchangeability only for some goofball to ask, “okay but where’s the money in it?”…Ursula K. Le Guin was so real. (Rereading this and knowing what happened at the end of this chapter…oof.)
