Easy and approachable. A collection of the author’s short pieces (average of ~2 pages per piece) on a variety of topics. Thoughtful. Reading some of the entries is a useful time warp that reminds you how can change over the course of a person’s life (her thought, not mine really). Not focused on the technicalities or logistics of Impact/ESG investing, more a set of implicit cases for *why* it’s worthwhile.

Andrew Tatge is starting General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money (Great Minds)
Concluding notes, preface, ch 1, ch 2 up through section 3.
I don’t think I’m going to finish or comprehend a majority of the book, but the ending was potent and refreshingly holistic.

Didn’t know Bogle was a Vonnegut fan (it seems anyway). Also, his section on the importance of immeasurable things is something I relate to coming into human-computer interaction from the humanities. The corporate world *is* in fact a bit obsessed with quantifying and routinizing everything, and seeing a human centered perspective from this captain of industry is reaffirms why he was a treasure.

Uncomfortable going as a white dude but interesting and needed. It’s one thing to know a lot in America is based on at least one form of supremacy but the first chapter unpacks some myths and rationales about the American west and Teddy Rosevelt I wasn’t familiar with. E.g. I’m used to hearing about how wonderful our national parks are, not their establishment as a means to wipe out indigenous populations.

Super digestible and approachable so far. A good primer on the intersection of tech and civic spaces.

The rigorous use of grids and step by step exploration of how to construct a grid (for print, which is understandable given the publication date) is nice. Maybe hard to relate to the web. Has improved my understanding of how to ensure things line up when images, captions, different type sizes/leading differ. Sometimes tricky to decode the intent and meaning of some diagrams, despite captions and labels
