Okay, this was unexpected and kind of reminded me of 'The wolves of Calla' 🤖
What's going on here? Some kind of... AI... in a wall..? 🤔

Chapter 1: Starting with history of scurvy, lime juice and tinned food in the Royal Navy and ending with the first proofs of cannibalism.

If that's not a compliment... ;)

Margaret Atwood did a great job with this introduction. Those few pages reminded me of how great a writer she is. I think it's very difficult to approach the themes in this book with homour, but she actually made me laugh out loud two times in this short introduction.

Next Chapter: The skeletons (with pictures... 😬)

After reading this for over a month now I am not sure if I am prepared to finish it... I can't even imagine what will happen in those last few pages...

Now that's getting interesting. What's going on there?

This feels kind of rushed right now.
There are chapters that were really long and full of... well... stuff. And then there are short chapters where interesting things happen but we don't get to know WHAT exactly and this just feels a bit like... 'Oh wait, I've only got 150 pages left, I have to let them die. Soon, no explanations necessary'. Huh... but still good :)

The Willows by Algernon Blackwood: first half meh, but now getting interesting. I gues the protagonists just found a 'thinny' to another world ;)

chapter 33: boats, boats and don't forget the boats

it's cold, I'm still ill and reading is a torture right now 😣

Did I mention the boats already? I learned a lot in this chapter, really. Most important: there are sooooo many different types of boats.... boats, boats... ..... boats.. 😴
