I need to finish this one but my daughter woke up... This will be a long night.. without finishing this book 😭😭😭

Have you ever considered dnf-ing a book because you know this will end very bad and you just can't stand to read it? This first half of the book is just perfect. No conflict, everything's great and I love all the characters. But things will fall apart soon. I am not sure I am able to read this. I want to stay in my bubble of perfection 🙈

Mr. Harrigan's Phone ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I loved that one. So full of truths about modern society and technology and our addiction to it. I always feel old when I tell people I try to not use my phone for 'chitter-chatter', trying not to waste my time on it, not using society media except for my book stuff. And people always laugh. Well, I guess Mr Harrigan would approve ;)

It wasn't a creepy story but I enjoyed it very much

I'm going to dnf for now. I was pretty excited about this book, but it just isn't for me. I dabbled along with it. reading 5%, 3%, one evening even just 1% and it slowed me down with my reading in general.
I don't feel a connection with the characters, the story still seems interesting, but I guess the writing just isn't for me. The characters behave odd, sometimes even annoyed me. So here's my third dnf-book ever :(

Soweit so gut. Bin gespannt, wie es weitergeht. 'Hana' ist kein Charakter, den ich sehr sympathisch finde. Auch nicht in dieser verzweifelten Situation, irgendwie kann ich kein Mitleid mit ihr haben.

Uhm,.... weird?! I am not sure how Joe Hill came up with that story. It's good and creepy and, well, really really weird..

Loved this one but it was oh so short. Too short.

The Widow's Breakfast ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story was interesting and very well done. The girls were creepy and I liked the protagonist. Creepy ending.

Bobby Conroy Comes Back from the Dead ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was a nice read. Loved the setting and the characters were interesting enough. The ending came a bit too abruptly.

What a great start to a book. Very captivating.
This is so much darker than Inkheart and the audiobook so very well done.

Can this possibly be the perfect book?!

There were parts of the story that I liked and parts that I couldn't care less about. I liked the ending, though. (Yes, some of Hill's stories actually have an ending 😂)

Last Breath ⭐⭐⭐
Interesting idea, but I wanted to read a bit more of this one. Hill's stories are usually quite long, Last Breath unfortunately isn't but had a nice concept and would have been great in a longer version.

In the Rundown ☀️☀️☀️☀️
Good story, would have been 5 stars if not (against) for the 'missing' ending. Also: baseball again. I mean, it's maybe a great sport, but it's not played around here so I have no clue what Hill's talking about and that's getting on my nerves.

I'm rushing through this one. Not because it's great bit to be done with it.. It has its good moments but it is... so... damn... boring... most of the time. I am just not interested in the classification of everything under the sea. It feels like a hundred essays about underwater life put into one book and a frame narrative to make it more readable.

I thought this one would be a 5-star story. I don't know much about Baseball so the beginning wasn't very interesting for me. I loved the rest of the story and the main character, but to be honest: I didn't get the point of the story.

I didn't really like the topic

This is going to be a bad ass ending. I dare not get on reading because I am almost sure what will happen. And it's quite a torture to get there. Not because the book is bad but because the characters are a goddamn freakshow. Each in her own way but, wow, those women are a freaking mess

Abraham's Boys ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Did Verne do a lot of research for this book? Sure.
Does an author have to put EVERY single information of their research into the actual book? - hell,no.
I mean, this book is mostly about two old people showing off their knowledge and repeating it to each other, although they know the other person already knows the same stuff. It's like reading an encyclopedia.
I am all for learning new things while reading but HELL

Pop Art - ⭐⭐

I really didn't get into this at first. And when I did it was almost too late. Thus I couldn't really enjoy this story.


You Will Hear the Locust Sing - ⭐⭐⭐

The beginning of this one wasn't great but the idea of a creature feature from the creature's POV is interesting und thus it became better later on.

I can't stand this.. I feel so embarrassed for Rose Gold. And her mother is even worse. Or maybe Rose is.. I am not sure. It's just really hard 🙈

This book is a 17 hour lecture.. 🧐
