Yes, I am currently listening to three audiobooks because none of them were compelling enough to fully hold my attention 🥴

I fear this narration style is Not For Me

History (the Goodreads plot description) will say that they're "friends"

This was one of my most anticipated books of the year but I'm feeling such disappointment after picking it up. The writing is bland & colourless; even the Nancy Drew novels (which this book is compared to) have more personality. Speaking of personality, all of the characters so far just feel like cardboard cutouts. I'm ready to be surprised as I read on, but this is truly some of the most Nothing prose I've ever read

Pretty audacious for a formulaic thriller novel to open with the Leo Tolstoy quote “Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way” when all the characters are stereotypes seen in 1000000000 formulaic thrillers before

So far: Nancy Drew meets Twin Peaks, set in Canada. I am the exact target audience and I am LOVING it

This was a sort of joke gift and I wasn't sure if I was going to read it but then I saw it was set in almost same time and place as the mystery novel I'm writing so now I feel I have to (this book is set in 1900 New York City, mine is 1902 upstate New York)

For the love of god, if half of the characters have British accents, please get an audiobook narrator who can actually do a British accent

Okay I'm enjoying this on the whole but it's definitely too long; tell me why the author needed to put in a whole chapter on the history of Missoula Montana from 13,000 B.C. to 1927 or why she devoted another chapter to the life of a historical figure who got one throwaway mention in the main story? Please ma'am,,,there are so many other books I want to read this year,,,
