Honestly...I'm tired of Alice, and am growing bored with this wild goose chase she and her punching bag of a supposed love interest are on.

This is my first time rereading this book since it came out in 2007. Younger me LOVED this book, so the fantasy nostalgia is strong with this one. It reminds me of the old school fantasy from the 80s and early 90s. So whimsical, magical, ethereal, and just everything a young girl wants out of a fairy book.

**sigh** I don't know if I'm gonna finish this one...

I don't like this book as much as Conjure Island and the narrator is awful. There is absolutely no reason to be reading this slowly or this monotone.

I know Hollywood takes creative liberties with book to screen adaptations, but so far, I'm preferring the movie version over this. Everyone is literally AWFUL, and I find that I don't really care about anyone. Thomas also comes of as really weak and whiny. Had I read this as a teen before the films came out, I don't think I would have liked this book. I'm only reading so we can finally get into the maze.

Welp. Just found my trigger in this book. Authors, please. You have got to do better at writing fear and tension that DOES NOT INCLUDE stalking, coercion, and sexual harassment towards young girls. I beg you.

I'm so confused at the relationships in this book and I'm only 65 pages in.

"My stomach rolls over and taps me on the shoulder" has got to be the most extra and obnoxious way to describe hunger I've ever read.
