The overuse of of hyphenated-cliches-to-emphasize-the-clicheness and adjectives in general is SO. GRATING. It turns interesting passages into "hey look, lets emphasize how ca-RAZY this all is by using increasingly descriptive parallels, illustrative synonyms, tantamount bafflegab."

All these things seemed like literal decades ago. And yet, it was only last year...
