"bamblusterate": bamboozle+bluster. to hoax or confuse.

"unch": an "unchecked" letter in a crossword puzzle that's only used in one word. On December 21, the first "word cross" puzzle was published in the New York World. "Cruciverbalists" are crossword enthusiasts and compilers.

"exsibilation": hissing, jeering a stage performer.

"arctician": a polar animal, which also came to mean a polar explorer.

"periplus": in Greek (periplous), originally a logbook detailing landmarks on a coast. in Latin-derived form, "a voyage around." it now broadly means an epic voyage.

"auriphrygiate": embroidered or fringed with gold thread.
"brolly-hop": a parachute jump.
"ananym": a word formed by reversing a word (knit->tink). Dylan Thomas used this for Llareggub (bugger all).
"boswellise": to write a detailed account of another person's life (as Boswell did of Sam. Johnson)

"beaglepuss": the nonsense word that Groucho glasses were first sold under.

Dafydd ap Gruffydd, the last independent ruler of Wales, was the first person to be hang, drawn, & quartered (an example of "trucidation").

"latrocination": robbery/theft. The Reno Gang were the first to commit such an act on a moving train in 1866.
