This is... not great. I am getting "Parable of the Sower" vibes and meh. It's just making me want to pickup a Redwall story. Why is the Lapine language even incorporated? Why is it a visual mixture of Welsh and Irish? Why are all the rabbits male? Why are they so stupid, they can talk and have complex social structures but don't understand how a raft floats (I mean, they're not humans, I expect them to be smarter!)

I love how I can almost pick up any book at this point and there's going to be SOME random historical event/person that will link back to an obscure reference in Cain's Jawbone (in this case, the murder of the de Witts). Jawbone is its own King Charles' head, it makes me so ticked off in the best of ways :D

Excellent brief introduction to the place and times where the book is set, def a good idea to read first!
