Feel like I'm teetering at the top of a terrifyingly high rollercoaster that drops STRAIGHT DOWN, and there's no sight of any more of the track ahead so yep that's all I have to say at this point

This is my first time reading Stephen King or any horror book at all. I always thought they were a joke - I never understood how fictional WORDS could illicit truly unbearable horror in a reader's mind. Unfortunately (??) .. I completely get it now.

I wanted to finish this autobiography by February 29th in celebration of Black History Month but I couldn't -- which actually testifies to how intense the book actually is. It's not very long but every scene is heavy on my heart. This is NOT something I could have powered through, it's simply not that type of book. I've needed to put it aside three times just to come back to baseline.

I’m already sad there is only one book after this one. The trilogy is way too short as other readers have said in the prologue. I love the songs ! I love the Ents!

Triggered. I have no believe in the spiritual realm and I pity those who think they are being looked after by a higher power. I will never be able to stomach that an “almighty” god can watch Maya and MILLIONS of others be sexually abused (Maya was only eight years old!) and do nothing. NOTHING! What a fucking nightmare! Almighty? Hell NO!

I want to finish this for Black History Month! I listen to audiobooks mostly but I wanted to READ this in print so it’s taking a bit longer to settle down into it. Angelou is incredible with words and descriptions, I can picture everything she’s saying. I can also relate being black myself, things were horrible then. It’s important for me not to forget.

What the f*ck is this ! I’ve heard of Mormons and the Latter Day Saints but I haven’t read personal accounts outlining how traumatic and horrifying it is to be born into a culture of religion-driven polygamy and child abuse in the more extreme branches. It’s not a “choice” in all of these cases it’s fear driven and it’s really sad 😔

I’m confident this book will help me get my eating under control for once and for all! So, so informative and I feel like it was written just for me.

Wow. It’s not just Holmes’ delusions about herself and Theranos that are bothering me now (and they ARE bothering me) but it’s how hard she is pushing for the equipment to hit market when it’s not fully developed yet. That might fly with other startups (it shouldn’t) but with a HEALTH RELATED EQUIPMENT? Just no. So much no.

Wow! You really get to see how horribly greasy Elizabeth Holmes is and how terribly she treated her employees at “Theranos”. Her endeavour epitomizes the “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know” business philosophy. Blah! Very icky situation, so much drama, it’s sinfully delicious. Really good read.

The enemy is upon them all, from the wizards to the elves and right down to the green hobbits. No one is safe! They are all filled with fright of what will happen if the enemy finds that which he is seeking. I’m using a map of middle earth to track their journey and they’ve not gone very far AT ALL but have had quite a few close calls!

I’m reading LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring (Book 1) and it’s absolutely chilling. Is it just me? I could not imagine leaving the Shire on a journey with a goal in mind but having no idea where I was going? No map? And having different enemies who can track you down via your essence? I can’t survive this! Even though I know how things end, it doesn’t stop the fright!

I’m listening to the BBC Dramatized 1968 radio series of this book and it’s a RIOT. The voices are hilarious and I can not recommend it enough. I was having a smoothie while listening to Gollum and Bilbo trading riddles and had to stop, I felt like I was slurping up Gollum’s slimy, oozing, creepy essence .. the voice is incredible. Wolfe Morris is the speaker, I adore him now!

Climbing Everest seems horrifying ... I can’t believe what I’m reading. Being up there and having things go unbelievably wrong and JUST wanting to get down - I cannot imagine. Limited food, water and air .. to realize my hobby was really going to kill me .. was just looking for a challenge, ended up dead.

Kill ‘em.

But the other side of me knows hanging them won’t bring the victims back. It never does.

I liked the idea of having them sit in the same cell looking at each other for the rest of their lives - partners in crime until the end.

So good, he’s a great writer! I can envision the beginning of the trek in my mind with much clarity. Getting to know his fellow trekkers is great too .. but will make it more upsetting when things start to go wrong. :(

Really good. Wow. This is my first time reading a fitness book and I made a great choice it seems. She actually focuses on changing your habits and loving yourself now! No one has HATED themselves into a body they love - it doesn’t work that way. I’ve laughed out loud a few times too!
