And we are back to solving the puzzles and mysteries left behind by an eccentric filthy rich man - and the enigmatic Avery and the charming Hawthorne boys in all their glory. Should be another fast easy read, this one! Hopefully, Avery and her wayward mind doesn't throw me off-course :)

Took this one on the kindle while out on vacation for some light reading and am surprisingly hooked. Strong writing - really funny and a lead whom I want to root for. Despite her wayward mind :P

Victim to the hype engine. Wanted to check what all this hoopla was about. I cannot even begin ...sigh. Why would the biggies like Anand Neelakantan or Ravi Subramanian even blurb this one? If Penguin picked this up on its potential, least they could have done is to assign a good editor. It's terrible writing that takes your attention away from a half-decent plot about an immortal who's lived through the centuries.

Starting to get a bit boring now. A staid old police procedural with stakeouts in the Bay. Hope things get better!

Starts off very promising - and being in the same circle as the protagonist ( ahem, lukewarm reception to a debut novel, looking to bruise along in the Hamsters wheel of Publishing!) - I identified a lot with her. But the mid-sections have been a plod! Just a lot of muck being thrown about on Twitterati which according to the author, is basically the moral compass of this industry. Is it ?

T Kingfisher is fast becoming my favorite author of 2023, her 3rd book of the year and she has never dissapointed me yet. This one's a classic tale reimagining - retaining the cold as hell gothic vibes, but infused with trademark humour by Kingfisher. Fun, dark and getting more intereting!
